What is South Sukhumvit?

If a press release, a condo listing, or a venue name says "South Sukhumvit," it means this neighborhood: the stretch of Sukhumvit Road between On Nut and Udom Suk BTS, centered on Punnawithi. It is the same area this site covers — under a newer name.

Where the name comes from

The name has been popularized by the marketing around Cloud 11, the creator-economy complex that MQDC built between Punnawithi and Udom Suk stations. Press coverage of its July 2026 opening called Cloud 11 "South Sukhumvit's new creative economy hub," and its anchor food hall, theCOMMONS, branded itself "South Sukhumvit's Nourishing Backyard." Some coverage goes further and describes a "South Sukhumvit Innovation District" taking in Cloud 11 and True Digital Park together.

One thing worth being clear about: South Sukhumvit is not an official district. It doesn't appear on Bangkok's administrative map — the area it describes sits largely in Phra Khanong district. It's a marketing name for a real place, and the real place is this neighborhood.

The name is new. The ambition isn't.

This is not the corridor's first branding exercise. When True Digital Park opened its first phase in 2019, the area was promoted as the "Bangkok CyberTech District." Most people who live here still navigate by BTS station — On Nut, Bang Chak, Punnawithi, Udom Suk — and that's how this site organizes its coverage too. What's actually here

Cloud 11 — a 250,000 sq m complex at 888 Sukhumvit Road: four towers on a shared podium topped by Thailand's largest elevated park, designed by Snøhetta with A49. It opened in stages through 2026, with the official opening on July 16, 2026, and holds production studios, an independent cinema (Doc Club & Friends), gallery space, and theCOMMONS food hall with more than 40 food and drink concepts. It's about a 450 m walk from Punnawithi BTS and 500 m from Udom Suk.

True Digital Park — a 200,000 sq m tech and startup campus connected directly to Punnawithi BTS, open since 2019 and billed as Southeast Asia's largest digital innovation hub. Between its two buildings it holds coworking space, offices, and several floors of shops and restaurants.

The neighborhood around them — which existed long before either project: street-food sois, markets, cafes, gyms, and condos.
